Tinted windows protect electronics

Dear Editor:

Reviewing, our group did state that we would exploit and support the best of our county. We also resolved to restrain from counterattacking underhanded politics.

We did not say, however, that we would look the other way while others make deliberate attempts to publicly destroy another’s personal character and reputation.
Merle Handley wrote, “Always excuses! Never honest answers.” (July 1) as she questioned tinted windows in Sheriff vehicles. There was a disclaimer at the end, but the horses had already left the barn.

Using the same rhetoric as Linda King and Jim Folts in Handley’s group, it’s obvious that she doesn’t want answers, she wants the Sheriff out. Tinted windows were merely hiding the folding of arms with index finger tapping the chin, “Hmm, what can we think of next to destroy him?”

Let’s try common sense before calling the Sheriff about his windows. Computers and communications equipment are protected from radiant heat or direct sunlight. This helps them work more efficiently and last longer. Same with the air conditioner and engine as cabin operating temperatures are maintained. Not factoring the deputies themselves, the return on investment (ROI) appears wise.

Common sense again, the Sheriff does not use tinted windows to hide evil, per John 3:19, machine guns, or deputies of ill-repute, as Handley clearly and sufficiently refers. This is considered obstructing justice in the performance of duty.

We believe it is time for lawsuits. Only one, compassionately administered, should reinforce the precepts in our First Amendment. If character is indeed in question, there must be proof, along with sufficient evidence to show no intent to harm personally.

If you really want the Sheriff out of office, do it right and run against him in the next election. Otherwise, character assassinations should not be the norm in this county, especially toward those risking their lives to support and defend the Constitution.
Now has the question about tinted windows been answered . . honestly?

Sincerely,
Joe Starbuck
