Memory loss screenings offered

Peninsula Senior Day Hospital and the Alzheimer's Association of East Tennessee will hold free memory loss screenings and depression screenings for senior adults ages 55 and older. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon May 20 at Peninsula Senior Day Hospital, 6800 Baum Drive, Knoxville.

Geriatric specialist O.H. Oliveira will give a presentation on "The Differences in Normal Memory Loss Associated with Aging, Dementia and Memory Loss Caused by Depression."

Balance problems topic of meeting

The topic of the Caregiver Support Group will be how to keep from falling, at 3 and 7 p.m. May 15 at Sterling House of Maryville. The sessions will be led by Ryan Gabel, physical therapist.

Caregiver Support Group meets on the third Thursday of each month at Sterling House, located at 511 Pearson Springs Road.

Medic to host blood drive

Medic Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 858 Louisville Road.

All donors must be at least 17 and weigh 110 pounds or more.

Team Olympia to hold sale

Team Olympia will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 in Olympia Athletic Club's lower parking lot. The sale will benefit Relay For Life.

Olympia is located at 398 Olympia Drive in Maryville.

Stroke screening set for May 20

Life Line Screening will be at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church at 9 a.m. May 20 to offer a complete screening package with checks for irregular heartbeat, a major risk for stroke.
